So come out to the Rudyard Kipling at 4th and Oak and enjoy a weekend of movies, music and camaraderie. Beer from the New Albanian Brewery will be on tap so you can drink in style while enjoying independent cinema.

Austin based visual and musical act The Octopus Project will be this years guest at Last Call Film Festival. The Octopus Project has appeared on the Lollapalooza tour, Fun Fun Fun Fest, SXSW, among many other tours. Their music has appeared in movies like “21” and now they will be performing at the Rudyard Kipling. Their act will be a set of new music played along to short films the act has created. If you're not familiar with the Octopus Project check out their MySpace page or website. This will be killer.

Also the deadline for submissions is fast approaching. Get your film in before it's too late. You can contact us by clicking "contact us" on this page. Hope to see all of you in June.

Director Joe Wolf and subject of the documentary Survival of the Wildebeest, Stuart Ross will be at Last Call Film Festival. Now after watching the documentary of the New York artist you'll be able to ask them questions and meet them. It's pleasure to have them.

Are you a fan of documentaries? Are you a fan of art? Are you fan of odd and interesting people? Then Friday night of Last Call just got better.

Joe and Stuart are looking forward to meeting all of you.

I am ready to post the schedule for Thursday. I've been asked to wait a few days before announcing one of the movies so the schedule will be posted then. Trust me, it'll be worth the wait. Thursday night will be both stellar and free. Soon my friends. Soon.

The first batch of official selections for Last Call 2008 has been announced. You can read about them on our films and performers page. We will be working on a schedule as we review more submissions and contact the filmmakers.

We are still open for submissions and the deadline is not until April the 1st. If you have made a movie we want to see it. If you live in the Louisville area and have made a movie please send it to us. We love screening local artists alongside the national ones.

If you have any questions please email us through the contact page.
Thanks

Hello All,

The site has been updated with all our current information... except for the date up top but that's being taken care of. As you’ve probably heard Kevin Murphy will be our guest of honor at Last Call 08. Stay posted for news as it develops.

I’m still not writing reviews because I don’t have the time. Here’s a quick one – skip Cloverfield. Not enough giant monster too much time spent on hipsters.

Don’t forget submissions are open and we charge NO submission fees. And if anyone asks, you’ve already made plans for the first weekend in June.

Wow! Last Call Film Festival has won the LEO Choice award for a second year in a row!

I’ll keep this as short a possible. Last Call was started for the love of movies. We manage to put together a stellar event on a very small budget. Our goals are many from practical to philosophical. We’ve been reaching all of our intended marks and it is thanks to the filmmakers who submit their work, the audience who comes to see it, the guests and the sponsors.

Extra big thank you to Wild and Woolly Video, The Great Escape, The Congress of Adam, Alley Cat Prints, Creative Enterprises and the Rudyard Kipling.

Thank you won’t work for the people who have helped with their time and talent. George, Michelle, the crew of Before I say goodbye, my wife (Chandra), my mom (who helped me flyer), the staff at the Rud, Cory McAbee, Richard Elfman, Lucky Pineapple, Vampire Squid and Bob. George and Bob were the transmission that kept the Rud running smoothly. My friends and family rule.

Last Call will be back for round three in 2008.

If you’re wondering where the new reviews are… well… I just haven’t had time. There. I said it. I’ll start up again when things become less hectic. However, if you’re interested in putting snarky and opinionated reviews on the internet drop us a line through the contact page.
Thanks
Andy
